itinerary
Arrival to Chamonix
We take the bus from Geneva international airport to Chamonix. The ride is about 1h30mins long.
Chamonix lies at the heart of the Alps, with a charming and laid back vibe overlooking the beautiful peak of the Mont Blanc.
We will have the time to explore the center and buy some equipment if needed.
Destination Trient
We start Le Tour du Mont Blanc in le Tour village. After a 20 minutes bus ride, we will start our hike towards Col de Balme which is on the Swiss – French border. From there you can see the best views of the Mont Blanc peak, aiguille verte, aiguille du Dru and aiguilles de Chamonix.
We then descend through a forest towards the village of Trient.
We are already in the Swiss Alps!
Destination Champex-Lac
We have two options for this day according to the weather conditions.
Either hike through Bovine, or through the more challenging Fenêtre d’Arpette..
Our day will end in Champex-Lac where we will spend the night.
Destination Italian Val Ferret
Today we leave the Swiss Alps and head to Italy.
After a bus transfer to La Fouly, we will pass through Grand Col Ferret, which offers spectacular views on two valleys: one in Switzerland and one in Italy.
Destination Courmayeur
Another exciting day full of awesome views…
We will face the Mont-Blanc massif on a panoramic trail.
Our hike will be along the exceptional balcony trail of the Mont de la Saxe , facing the south face of the Mont Blanc.
A short bus transfer might be needed to reach our mountain hut for the night.
Destination Les Chapieux
Today we climb to the Val Veny, and then onto Col de la seigne which is the border between Italy and France.
We are once again in the French Alps and our final destination will be the beautiful village “Les Chapieux” where we will spend the night.
Destination Les Contamines-Montjoie
Today we reach the highest point of the tour, which is Col des fours (2665m).
We will descend afterwards to Col du Bonhomme and then towards les Contamines-Montjoie.
Destination Les Houches
Today is our last day on the trail.
Our first climb will be towards the Bionnassay glacier which offers amazing views of the Chamonix valley and the Mont Blanc massif.
We will end the hike in les Houches, where we will take a bus back to Chamonix to spend our last night.
Fly back home
We leave the valley with incredible memories and say goodbye to the beautiful Alps.. a la prochaine Chamonix!

Frequently asked questions
What will the weather be like during this trek?
The weather on the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) trail in July is generally warm and pleasant, but conditions can change quickly due to the high altitude. Be prepared for all types of weather, from sunshine to sudden rainstorms. The scenery is stunning, but Mont Blanc loves surprises! But don’t worry, just follow our packing checklist, and you’ll be prepared for whatever nature throws our way!
What about the Visa needed?
Visa requirements depend on your nationality and the length of your stay:
- Visa-Free Entry: Travelers from the EU, Schengen Area, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, UAE, and other eligible countries can enter Italy visa-free for up to 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism or business.
- Schengen Visa: If your country requires a visa, you must apply for a Schengen Tourist Visa, which allows stays of up to 90 days in Italy and other Schengen countries.
Important: Every traveler is responsible for obtaining the correct visa before the trip. The Sports Guru is not responsible for any entry issues on the day of travel.
Who can be part of the TMB trek?
Do I have to worry about altitude sickness on the TMB trek?
No, altitude sickness is generally not a concern on the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) trek. The highest point on the TMB is Col des Fours (2,665m / 8,743ft), and altitude sickness typically occurs above 2,500–3,000m (8,200–10,000ft)
Where will we sleep during the trek?
The mountain huts along the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) are generally well-maintained and offer a comfortable, rustic experience for trekkers. Most of our nights on the trail, we will be sleeping in private rooms (2 to 3 trekkers per room). Some nights we might have to share bigger dorms (up to 5 trekkers per dorm). Bathrooms are shared and hot shower is available almost everywhere.
