Arrival to Slovakia
We fly into Krakow in neighbouring Poland, where we will be met by our guide; we then take a private transfer across the border to our hotel in Slovakia. It’s around a 3 hours drive.
Get excited as you watch the alpine scenery and mountains unfold around us. It’s super pretty.
Peak Koprovsky Stit
We hike straight from our accommodation- destination Peak Koprovsky, which is almost 2400 meters high. This is one of our favourite hikes (altho in fairness all the hikes are favourites on this trip!)… the views all the way until the top are just stunning!
The biggest and deepest lake of the Slovak side of the Tatra mountains – Lake Hincovo pleso- is on the way at 1900 meters flanked by peaks.
Just gorgeous.
An adventure in the Slovak paradise
Today is something a little different- a hiking adventure park!
Morning transfer by minibus is 45 minutes to Slovak Paradise.
This national park is only good for people who are not afraid of heights, because they will need to climb vertical ladders against the rocks which are up to 13 meters high. There is no harness used. Having said that, families come here with children so its all very doable, just maybe a little challenging for those with phobias!
You will explore one of the longest and most impressive gorges in the park – Sucha Bela gorge and canyon Prielom Hornadu.
You’ll walk through narrow gorge in-between high cliffs, climb ladders, use mini via ferrata and traverse rivers over small iron platforms- it’s a super fun adventure!
Peak Predne Solisko
After breakfast we put on our backpacks and walk straight onto our next hike.
We are aiming for another peak, Predne Solisko at 2100m.
You will ascend to the peak through alpine lush Furkotska valley, until the view opens to peaks and waterfalls. We take a break at a mountain hut where it is possible to stop for some refreshment. Fuel up as now we face a steep ascent!
We love the views from the jagged peak- and just being on the peak itself is an adventure! You will see what we mean… 🙂
River rafting and E-bike tour
Today we will rely on rafts and bikes to explore!
After just over an hours transfer after breakfast, we reach the starting point of our next adventure, the river Dunajec for rafting!
The river runs through a beautiful canyon called Prielom Dunajca – Dunajec gorge. For 18 km, the river Dunajec forms the border between Slovakia and Poland and we will raft along it. It is bumpy in places but nothing major, and this aventure is suitable for those who have never rafted before. You are accompanied by an instructor.
We return to the hotel for lunch where we relax a bit before we drive 25 mins before getting in the saddle for an e-bike tour through the mountain roads.
You can choose just how active you are going to be- fully peddle- or cruise!
The Green Lake
Another one of our favourites- and it’s a challenging one!
After breakfast we take a 40 minute car transfer to a cable car- we ride it up to Lake Skalnate from where we will start the hike.
Our first destination is peak Velka Svistovka. There is an amazing view from this peak which also gives you an incedible vantage point of the whole Valley of the Green Lake.
We will descent to one of the most beautiful places in Tatra mountains- it’s breathtaking! It’s also challenging terrain, and at one point we need to descend a small waterfall for about 30 meters by holding a chain which is secured into the rock- it can be done by everyone, but you need an adventurous spirit!
After lunch at the green lake, you will walk through the forest to Lake Biele pleso and from there back to the cable car station and to the starting point.
See you again Slovakia!
Our adventure has come to an end and we transfer back to Warsaw, from where we catch our flights home.
Thank you and see you next time Slovakia!
