Arrival to Kathmandu
Your adventure officially begins! Arrival in Kathmandu. Stay in a 4 star hotel on a shared room basis (single supplement available upon request)
Welcome dinner for the team to get to know each other before we embark on this epic journey together!
And the adventure begins
We drive around 5 hours to Ramechhap where we will be staying for the night. This is where all the flights to Lukla depart from. Now patience is key- these flights are expected to have delays as they only fly in perfect weather conditions- delays can last from hours, to even days! This is why we have factored in buffer days. Plus- who said getting to the top of the world should be easy 🙂
We keep our fingers crossed that the weather gods are kind!
Hello Everest Region
Hello Everest region, we touch down in the Khumbu valley! Now its time to get really excited!
We set off toward Phakding- today is an easy start. Accommodation is in simple mountain tea houses- based on shared rooms and shared bathrooms. No single supplement available on the mountains.
Welcome to the colorful market town of Namche Bazaar
Today we head to the famous Namche Bazaar – around a 7 hour hike. We will leave around 8am, after a hearty breakfast. We take our time to let our bodies get used to the altitude and soak up the atmosphere. We cross the Hillary suspension bridge on this day.
Acclimatisation is key
This is an acclimatisation day, and also your first view of Mount Everest!
After breakfast we will take a short hike where we ascend to the Everest view hotel (no secret what we can see from there!)
On a clear day the views of Mt Everest and the surrounding peaks are breathtaking.
We head back to our tea house for lunch then go to explore Namche which has bijou coffee shops and a great market.
Destination Debuche
This day’s trail includes ups and down and more suspension bridges. Today we will walk around six hours. You will have chance to see the Tengboche monastery, observe prayers, and be wowed by the sunset view on the Himalayas. Nothing short of spectacular
Destination Dingboche
After breakfast we head toward Dingboche- slow and steady to allow your body to get used to the altitude. Dingboche is considered the last Sherpa village in the Khumbu region- you can see all the greats from here- Everest, Ama Dablam and Lhotse. We love this village.
Another acclimatisation day - Hike higher, Sleep Lower
Today is an acclimatization day – “hike higher, sleep lower”.
After breakfast, we will hike up around 400m from where you will have the most magnificent panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks.
We return to our tea house for lunch, and spend the rest of the day exploring the village, soaking up this stunning environment and just relaxing.
Destination Lobuche
On and up we go!
After breakfast we head toward Lobuche. We walk slowly. It’s around a 5-6 hour hike, your body and your breathing may feel heavier. Once we get to Lobuche, we will do a small acclimatisation hike from where we can see the Khumbu Glacier. We are getting close 🙂
EBC Here we come
This is the big day!
We walk around 3 hours to get to Gorakshep and have a short stop for lunch. We leave what we dont need at our teahouse, and pack light for the short walk to Everest base camp.
We made it!!
We soak up this incredible place and spending some time here. Once all the pictures have been taken and our hearts are full- we return to Gorakshep..
Our descent starts
The views are not over! We do an early hike to Kala Patthar from where we are treated to a spectacular view of Mount Everest – possibly the best views yet- with other surrounding mountains, together with the Khumbu Glacier and Khumbu Ice fall.
We return to our teahouse to be rewarded with a hot breakfast. We then set off to Pheriche- around a 5 hour hike.
…..
Back to Namche Bazaar
After a good nights sleep and a hearty breakfast we set off toward Namche bazar. It will take us around 7-8 hours of hiking..
Namche Bazaar to Lukla
This is our last day in the Himalayas. Time to slowly digest just how far we have come, and the spectacular, special place we find ourselves in.
We have about 8 hours of hiking before we overnight – and celebrate- in Lukla. …..
Back to where it all started
We catch an early flight back to Ramechhap (once again we ask the weather gods for a timely fight!) and then have a final 5 hour drive back to the capital. If all goes to plan we will be back in Kathmandu in the afternoon and there is still time for some shopping and a final farewell team dinner! Overnight in a 4 star hotel.
..
Until next time beautiful Nepal
A la prochaine beautiful and unforgettable Nepal! …..
Buffer Day Explained
We have included a buffer day in our itinerary to accommodate any flight delays to or from Lukla. Lukla, officially known as Tenzing- Hillary airport, lies at 2835m, with a short, sloped runway. Flights are often delayed as they only operate in perfect weather conditions, and so it is safer to factor in some extra time to allow for this. Hopefully all will go to schedule but better to be safe than sorry!
If delays seem severe- over a day or more- an option could be to charter a helicopter/s (at extra cost) which often can still fly in poorer visibility. This will be discussed with the group if and when necessary.
*Flight delays and cancellations to Lukla are beyond our control- so some flexibility is necessary (and part of the adventure!)
If all goes to plan- hopefully!- and we are left with an extra day in Kathmandu- we will provide a city tour to the temples of the capital and also to the impressive ancient capital, Bhaktapur.
*The Sports Guru reserves the right to change or cancel any of the activities during the trip in case of unforeseen circumstances.
Please note that the Everest Base Camp trek involves remote regions where flexibility and patience are essential. Delays — particularly with Lukla flights — are common and can sometimes last for multiple days. This is why we included a buffer day in our itinerary.
Your adventure will be unforgettable, but the Himalayas don’t run on a schedule — and that’s part of what makes them magical.

Frequently asked questions
What will the weather be like during our trek?
October–November and March–April are the pre- and post-monsoon seasons in Nepal, making them the driest and warmest months in the Himalayas—perfect for trekking. However, mountain weather is notoriously unpredictable and can change in an instant. We may encounter rain, or even snow, but don’t worry, just follow our packing checklist, and you’ll be prepared for whatever nature throws our way!
What about the Visa to Nepal?
Visa “on Arrival” is the only way to enter Nepal. The visa procedure is very quick and simple, you wont need any extra documents and is done directly at the airport.
Only nationals of following countries are requested to acquire a Visa prior to their arrival from their nearby Diplomatic missions (Embassies/consulates) of Nepal Government.

The fees of the Visa are as follows: 15 Days – 30 USD, 30 Days – 50 USD, 90 Days – 125 USD.

Who can be part of the EBC Trek?
What about altitude sickness?
Altitude sickness is a common concern on the Everest Base Camp trek, but with the right approach, it can be managed effectively. Proper acclimatization, hydration, and a steady pace are essential. Our itinerary is designed with built-in rest days to help your body adjust gradually to the altitude. While most trekkers experience mild symptoms like headaches or fatigue, our experienced guides will be there every step of the way to monitor your health and coach you through proven techniques to minimize symptoms and stay safe.
Where will we sleep during the trek?
During the Everest Base Camp trek, we stay in tea houses, which are basic mountain lodges along the trekking route. These accommodations are simple but comfortable, providing a warm place to rest after a long day of hiking.
Most rooms in these tea houses are shared (twin or dorm-style) with basic beds, blankets, and pillows. As we go higher, tea houses become more limited, meaning more people may need to share a room. Toilets are shared and vary from western-style to squat toilets. Expect basic toilets, sometimes just a hole in the ground. Hot showers are available at most tea houses, but they are not always guaranteed. The dining area is usually the warmest place, with an electric heater. Bedrooms are not heated, but we will be providing you with warm sleeping bags.
